Adam Montgomery gets 56 years to life in prison for murder of daughter Harmony, 5, as he refuses to reveal where body is | 9AL0319 | 2024-05-11 19:08:01
THE father of murdered 5-year-old Harmony Montgomery has been sentenced to 56 years to life in prison for the fatal backseat beating of his daughter.
Adam Montgomery, who walked into the New Hampshire courtroom with wrists handcuffed, wearing a white T-shirt and bright yellow prison pants, showed no remorse during Thursday's sentencing.

A judge ordered Montgomery, 34, to appear for his sentencing after he refused to attend any of his court proceedings during his two-week trial earlier this year.
The heartless father declined a 35-to-life plea deal from the prosecution in exchange for his confession on the location of Harmony's remains.
"Since that offer has been rejected, your honor, that is yet another reason why the minimum should not apply. How can the minimum ever apply?" prosecutor Ben Agati asked.
Harmony, who was last seen on December 7, 2019, was legally declared dead by a New Hampshire judge in March. Her remains have not been recovered.
"The crimes that you have committed and the harm that you have caused cannot be overstated," Judge Amy Messer blasted Montgomery before imposing sentencing.
"You took a human life, and you did so in the most callous and heartless of ways. You robbed a 5-year-old girl, your own daughter, of the life she was to lead.
"You stole from your sons a sister, you took a daughter from her mother."
Messer continued, "In 2019, you beat Harmony. In the words of your uncle, her eye was fully black and blue 'like a raccoon eye,' he said.
"Your words when asked were, 'I bashed her around the f**king house.' And then you hid her from the view of others and you kept her from those that came to help her.
"On the day you murdered her, you didn't hit her once, you bashed her in the head repeatedly. You beat her in the car while at stop lights, more than one time.

"And then, after her death, you treated her body like it was trash, worse than trash. You did unimaginable things to her body."
Messer continued by laying out Montgomery's extensive criminal history, and his refusal to change his ways.
"Harmony was an innocent 5-year-old girl. You treated her in the worst of possible ways, in both her life and in her death," the judge added before imposing consecutive sentences for his crimes.
When asked if he had any questions about his sentencing, Montgomery shook his head and replied, "Nope."
'I WISH YOU PAIN AND MISERY'
The 5-year-old's mother, Crystal Sorey, ripped Montgomery during her impact statement, branding him a "monster, coward, and plain evil."
"To the monster that killed my baby," Sorey tore into the convicted killer.
"She would be thriving right now, not beaten and stuffed in a CMC bag you put her.
"She had a life worth living not like your own, and it bothered you to your core that she was nothing like you and everything like me.
"Beautiful inside and out, funny, smart, sassy, loving, and most of all kind.
"She wasn't a coward like you, and I'll be forever grateful for that."
Sorey continued, "You're a coward who has to be in control of everything and everyone around you.
"I wish you nothing but pain and misery for the rest of your pathetic life."
The heartbroken mother vowed to continue searching for her daughter's remains, "But I hope that every day and every night that you are on this earth, you hear nothing but my baby's giggle.
"I hope you hear her sweet voice telling you to stop hitting her, over and over, or how she looked the last time you saw her, broken and bruised."
Brittany Sorey, Harmony's aunt, called Montgomery a "poor excuse for a human being."
"If you're any type of man at all, Adam, or you loved her for just a second, you would tell us where she is," Brittany said.
A goodbye letter written by Montgomery's estranged wife, Kayla, was read to the courtroom during the impact statements.
In the note, Kayla detailed the abuse she suffered at the hands of Montgomery.
Crystal Sorey left the courtroom as a victim advocate read Kayla's letter.
Kayla is expected to be released on parole in May.
