The boss of a plastering firm referred to as 'Skim'll Fix It' has disregarded complaints concerning the controversial identify and insisted it's 'simply banter'.

Sam Thatcher, of Ramsgate, Kent, says he selected the name- a reference to infamous paedophile Jimmy Savile's TV present 'Jim'll Repair It' – in a bid to face out.

However many branded the identify as 'frighteningly naïve' and 'insensitive' because of its connotations to Savile's heinous sex crimes, lots of which have been commited on set.

When the revelations about Savile's crimes turned public, concrete firm Jim'll Combine It modified their identify to MixIt to keep away from controversy.

But though Sam says he understands how some might take offence at his plastering agency's identify, the 34-year-old insists he gained't be changing it and is glad it's received individuals talking.

Jim'll Repair It was a massively fashionable BBC show broadcast between 1975 and 1994, by which youngsters would write a letter to Saville with a 'wish' that might come true at the finish of each episode.

But following Saville's dying in 2011, it emerged that he was a serial paedophile who had sexually assaulted up to 500 people – nearly all of whom have been younger women.

Mr Thatcher, who's a father himself, says the decision to call his agency Skim'll Repair It was 'obviously' after the posthumous revelations about Saville emerged.

However the businessman says it 'wasn't what was going by means of my thoughts' when rebranding his business.

The skilled plasterer, who has worked in the business for almost 20 years and has been self-employed for 11 years, says he determined to rebrand his business within the hope of attracting new shoppers.

He explained: 'The identify was supposed to draw attention to the enterprise – to attract in an audience and get our identify on the market.'

He wrote to followers on social media to deal with considerations about his firm's new identify, describing it as 'slightly little bit of banter in these dark and depressing occasions we reside in'.

Lots of his followers confirmed help and found the humour, but another recommended a 'rethink' over the 'insensitive' slogan.

Addressing the web criticisms his new identify has acquired, Mr Thatcher stated: 'I've acquired combined evaluations… Nevertheless, the majority have been constructive and other people do are likely to take the identify in the light-hearted manner which was meant.
