And the Garda Commissioner told how he has asked officers to revisit two tranches of files regarding the Stardust disaster.
Harris said he expects to receive a report shortly from the Dublin City coroner.
He added that there was a memorandum of understanding in place, where, in the wake of the verdict, the coroner will bring issues to his attention if she thinks they are relevant to gardaí.
Harris said he has asked the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation to "revisit" two investigation files that were submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, one from the early 80s and another from 2016.
He said he expects to receive a report from the coroner Dr Myra Cullinane in the next two or three weeks.
Harris acknowledged that the inquest verdict has "brought our investigations back to the fore".
The top cop said: "We're at the beginning of the road in examining what's being done."
And the Irish Sun's podcast on the Stardust fire tragedy is sailing up the charts just hours after it was released.
The eight-parter explores one of Ireland's worst disasters, telling the tragic story of the infamous night of February 14 1981 when 48 young people lost their lives in the Stardust nightclub in Artane, Dublin.
And following its premiere on Thursday, the pod was a hit on all popular podcast platforms.
A fresh episode will be released weekly as the Irish Sun investigates one of the most shocking disasters in Irish history.
Taoiseach Simon Harris this week issued a State apology to the families of the Stardust fire tragedy – more than 40 years after the blaze.
Mr Harris is to write a "personal" letter of apology to Stardust families in the aftermath of his State apology in the Dail.
The Taoiseach pledged to write to families in the coming days to express his remorse for what happened.
A new inquest into the fire at the Stardust nightclub in Artane, Dublin, on Valentine's Day in 1981 found the blaze was started by an electrical fault in a hot press.
The jury ruled the 48 victims – aged 16 to 27 – were unlawfully killed, with a number of issues contributing to their deaths, including the fact some exits were locked.
The new inquiry into the tragedy came after 43 years of campaigning by families who were distraught at the finding of a separate probe which ruled the horror inferno was arson.
The State repeatedly blocked the families' attempts to get the truth and justice for their lost loved ones.
After the ruling of the new inquest, Mr Harris announced the Government plans to provide counselling for the Stardust families.
The families' solicitor Darragh Mackin welcomed the move, saying this is the first time they have been provided with the necessary support to accompany them "on this deeply traumatic journey".
Mackin highlighted how grieving relatives had told the Taoiseach last weekend how they had been "left out in the cold having to fend for themselves without any support or counselling services".
The families' solicitor said the Mr Harris has now acted and should be commended for responding with decisiveness.

In early May 2022 a single passenger named Darren Harrison was left to fly the light aircraft he was traveling in after the pilot lost consciousness. He landed successfully after following "talk-down" over-the-radio procedures jointly issued from an air traffic controller and a flight instructor on the ground. His was not the only example of such a scenario, with CNN reporting of at least three other occasions when passengers have been left in life or death situations where the only choice open to them is to take the controls and land a plane themselves. But what's involved in a "talk down," and would you have the nerve and powers of concentration to fly yourself out of such a frightening situation?

How worried should you be about the measles outbreak? | Z90YK3L | 2024-04-30 23:08:01
Back in 2000, measles was declared eradicated in the US. That all changed less than 20 years later, when a measles epidemic took hold in 2019. The number of cases reached a high not seen since 1992, the majority of which were attributed to unvaccinated children. A highly infectious disease, cases have been reported each year since 2019 and the world has been experiencing a major increase since 2023. More than a dozen US states have reported cases of the illness since the start of 2024, and experts attribute the outbreak to increased travel and lower vaccination rates in children since the COVID-19 pandemic.
It looks like measles cases are on the rise around the world. But how dangerous is it? And what should you do if you think you have symptoms?

Brian Cox blames the Bible for 'propaganda' and claims it is 'the worst book ever' | 4PEGBYE | 2024-04-30 21:08:01
Actor Brian Cox has slammed the Bible (Picture: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic for HBO)
Brian Cox isn't a fan of the Bible and shan't be giving it a glowing review on Goodreads anytime soon.
In fact, he reckons it's 'one of the worst books ever'.
The 77-year-old actor has has insisted religion 'holds us back' as humans, and blamed narratives in the Bible for society's patriarchy.
'We do because we have to honour them and we have to give them their place and we're resistant to that because all our… it's Adam and Eve, I mean, the propaganda goes right way back – the Bible is one of the worst books ever, for me, from my point of view,' he said.
Cox continued on The Starting Line Podcast: 'Because it starts with the idea that Adam's rib – you know, that [from] Adam's rib, this woman was created, and they'll believe it cause they're stupid enough.'
The Succession star argued that religion distracts people from who they truly are.

'I think religion does hold us back because it's belief systems which are outside ourselves.
'They're not dealing with who we are, we're dealing with, "Oh if God says this and God does that", and you go, "Well, what is God?"
"We've created that idea of God, and we've created it as a control issue, and it's also a patriarchal issue. and it's essentially patriarchal – we haven't given enough scope to the matriarchy."
He pointed to the biological differences between men and women when it comes to their role in parenthood.
Cox noted that 'the mothering thing is the thing which is the real conditioning of our lives', whereas 'our fathers don't condition ourselves because they're too bloody selfish, but our mothers have to, because they have an umbilical – that's what the umbilical cord is about.'
The national treasure isn't always good at holding his tongue (Picture: Monica Schipper/Getty Images)
'Even though it's cut away, there's an umbilical relationship to your child, and the women have that, men do not have that, they're just sperm banks,' he explained.
Although Cox admitted spiritual people do need a guide or some kind, he insisted they shouldn't look to the Bible for an answer.
He declared that they 'don't need to be told lies', but 'need some kind of truth'.
'And that is not the truth.'
'It is not the truth, it's a mythology, you know?', he stated. 'It's not really to do with what women understand more than anybody.'
The Scottish-born TV star has been hailed as one of the country's 'greatest living national treasures' in recent times, particularly following an appearance on Newsnight.
Closing out 2023 in explicit style, he stunned BBC viewers by dropping an F-bomb in a nod to his Succession character.
Signing off from the programme for the last time in December, he fulfilled presenter Kirsty Wark's request to do it 'in the manner of Logan Roy'.
'I will attempted to do my best,' he vowed, and he didn't let her down.
'That's all from tonight from Newsnight, we'll be back in January. I hope you have an amazing festive season wherever you are, whatever you're doing.
'And now, just f*** off.'

Dwyane Johnson accused of being 'hours late to set' and 'peeing in bottles to save time' in damning expose | 4PEGBYE | 2024-04-30 21:08:01

Dwayne Johnson has been accused of causing the budget for Red One to 'spiral' after chronically turning up late to work – as well as allegedly urinating in water bottles to 'save time' on other film sets.
The WWE favorite-turned Hollywood legend has commanded the screen in a number of flicks, including Black Adam, Moana, Jumanji and the Fast and Furious franchise.
The Rock is currently filming for the Amazon Prime flick alongside Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu and JK Simmons, directed by Jake Kasdan.
The movie, focusing on a bounty hunter teaming up with a formidable operative to save Christmas, after Santa Claus is kidnapped from the North pole, was originally slated to be released at the end of 2023, but was pushed back to November of this year after the recent strikes.
However, in a damning new expose, the 51-year-old is alleged to have sparked delays costing 'at least $50million' with his constant lateness, with the final budget thought to be more than $250million.
Insiders have told TheWrap that the crew was forced to shoot around Johnson on some days after he turned up late – with some suggesting he was 'an average of seven to eight hours' behind, and ended up missing entire days or production.
'The only thing Dwayne was consistent at was being chronically late,' one source claimed, while another branded the shoot a 'f**king disaster'.
The actor is set to star in the Amazon flick later this year (Picture: Getty)
Earlier this month, Johnson was thought to be three hours late to attend his main event at WrestleMania 40, and was later booed for turning up two hours behind schedule at a fan event in Philadelphia.
ABC6 reports that he addressed the jeers on stage and played up his wrestling villa persona when he told the crowd: 'You're booing because The Rock was a little late, that's why you're booing?
'Now, The Rock has shown up, you got greatness in front of you — you stand there, shut your mouth and enjoy the ride that The Rock is taking you on.'
However, Chris Legentil – WWE executive vice president for talent relations and head of communications – has since shared that he was actually 'hours early to help with rehearsal', and was a 'pleasure to work with'.
Chris Evans is also appearing in the action blockbuster (Picture: Getty)
Aside from the ring, multiple sources who worked across many other of Johnson's projects have noted his late arrivals on set – according to a former production assistant on his HBO series Ballers, he 'was regularly three to four hours late to set. Keeping 100+ crew members waiting for no reason'.
The publication reports that an unnamed co-star on 2018's Rampage would keep a 'log of how late DJ was to set every day', causing his call times to stop being published on the schedule.
It has been alleged that the tardiness is due to his absolute refusal to work more than a four-or five-hour day'.
Johnson is believed to have stormed off set, with the stars only recently sorting out their differences ahead of a possible sequel.
Although Reynolds has not addressed the claims publicly, a Netflix spokesperson told the outlet: 'Dwayne is the consummate professional and we're thrilled to have worked with him on 'Red Notice,' our #1 film.'
As well as reports of his tardiness, Johnson is also facing claims that he tried to save time on set by urinating in a water bottle, before handing it to a member of his team to dispose of.
'On set, away from his trailer, if he needs to pee, he doesn't go to the public bathroom,' a source alleged. 'He pees in a Voss water bottle and his team or a PA has to dispose of it.'
He has spoken about his alternate use for bottles in the past, previously telling Esquire he 'breaks out the bottle' during intense workouts.
It must be noted that none of the insiders that TheWrap spoke to said that this occurred while filming Red One, while a further two denied that it had ever happened.
Dwayne has yet to speak out over the claims (Picture: Getty)
While Johnson has yet to respond to any reports publicly, sources close to production – and an unnamed person close to his Seven Bucks production company – insist that he was no more than one hour late to filming Red One on average.
They also denied that the budget veered from the original number that Amazon green lit.
A spokesperson for Amazon MGM added to the outlet: 'Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on Red One —a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season.
'Our testing has been very strong — the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself — and we couldn't have made it without Dwayne's constant work and support. Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up seven-eight hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.'
Metro.co.uk has contacted Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Amazon Prime and Netflix for a comment.

Everyone's favourite cheese toastie blowtorcher Brooklyn Beckham has been back in the kitchen.
This time, he made burgers… and they're being compared to McDonald's (not in the complimentary sense).
The 25-year-old has caught plenty of heat online in recent years for his culinary, erm, skills.
Whether he's making pasta inside a whole cheese wheel or drowning his chicken in avocado oil, the son of David and Victoria Beckham is an endless meme, with his latest dish causing a stir, once again, for the wrong reasons.
Taking to social media to showcase his latest creation, the budding chef whipped up a homemade burger and fries in a sponsorship with Chosen Foods.
'Today I'm making a Flying Dutchman,' he began in the video.

Brooklyn explained: 'You first start off with grounding your meat, then we cut up some potatoes.
'Next up is the onion. Two similar sizes so it can be replaced by the bun.'
The former photographer filled a saucepan with 'pure avocado oil', fried his potato chips, and tossed them with salt before draining them.
Then came time to plate up his burgers.
As he did so, viewers noticed that not only had he used 'the wrong type of potato', but he was also cheating with processed cheese slices.
Nevertheless, he was proud of his creation and facing the inevitable wrath of the internet didn't deter Brooklyn from sharing the 'tutorial' with his 16.4million followers.
People were still incredibly savage in the comments, though.

Dragging Posh Spice into their criticism, abazilindita wrote: 'Victoria would throw that in the rubbish right away'.
Surprisingly, though, there was a decent amount of praise for ar Brooklyn too.
Fans defended him from the barrage of hate, hailing his burger as 'delicious' and urging trolls to leave him be.
He was also supported by his number one cheerleader, dad David, who reposted the clip to his Story with the text: 'My boy just loves to cook. Just like his dad'.
VB also joked: 'He gets it from me!'

In a recent interview with Insider, Brooklyn declared that he 'works [his] bum off'.
He said: 'To be honest, I'm used to the hate. It doesn't really bother me. Cooking makes me happy.
'I have more important things to worry about than people saying a little bit of rubbish about me… I'm doing my thing and working my bum off.'

When asked what he wishes to say to the haters, Brooklyn replied defiantly: 'My message to them is to keep writing whatever they want to write. There are always going to be people out there who try and pull you down.

However, this was never actually the case and instead, a bizarre misunderstanding where his planned time off was conflated with a discovery of a genetic risk factor.
While filming his documentary series Limitless for National Geographic, the Thor star underwent genetic testing which revealed he carried two copies of the APOE4 gene.
This gene has been flagged as a marker of risk for developing Alzheimer's but is not a diagnosis in itself but the story began to spiral.
'It really kind of p**sed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this,' he revealed to Vanity Fair.
'No matter how much I said "This is not a death sentence," the story became that I have dementia and I'm reconsidering life and retiring and so on.'

Alzheimer's disease is where the brain function deteriorates as cells shrink and die, impacting someone's memory, thinking, behaviours and social skills.
The VF cover star reiterated that he is not retiring any time soon, having moved back home to Byron Bay, Australia, to spend more time with his family.
His family, including model wife Elsa Pataky and their three kids, relocated down under in 2015 while Marvel-mania was in full swing.
Chris found Hollywood a head trip as he would simultaneously wonder if he was overexposed but not famous enough.
While the Furiosa: Mad Max actor has had an impressive career so far he is looking at taking it all more seriously, as long as he doesn't turn into an 'overly self-important pretentious w***er' in the process.

Despite having his gripes about the Alzheimer's speculation, Chris did note that there was one 'really funny' comment at the bottom of an article.
He shared: 'I hope Chris forgets he's retiring and comes back.'
When the Extraction star first got the news, he overhauled his health and focused on his brain rather than brawn – although that's not to say he's let go of his six-pack.
Looking back on his blockbuster career so far, Chris also lamented the type-casting he has faced since moving from Aussie soaps to Marvel's then-fledgling universe.

He felt he was type-cast as the muscly action hero, which often have few internal complexities to work through, except for in Rush and now the Mad Max sequel.
Workouts shifted to target cardio fitness rather than pure muscle building, giving better all-around health results for the God of Thunder.
Previously, Chris has confessed how the news made him think more about his family life and how he wants to soak in the time with his kids.
In 2012, Elsa gave birth to their daughter India, 11, then two years later they welcomed twin sons Tristan and Sasha, nine.

Friend Karis O'Hara said she'd been talking to him about working together 'weeks ago' before he 'went quiet'.
'Conrad, my friend.. we chatted weeks ago about collaborating on a track, and then he went quiet. Only to hear the devastating news today… he was kind to me, especially during Covid. Thank you for being a light, and the words & music. rip MC Conrad, you'll be missed,' she said.
Drum and bass label Technique Recordings paid tribute to Conrad, writing: 'RIP MC Conrad. One of the originators and a level-setting master of the craft of lyrical D&B emceeing.'
DJ Mag's editor-in-chief Carl Loben wrote: 'And we've lost MC Conrad now – way too soon. His soulful lyrical flow in tandem with LTJ Bukem, letting the music breathe, was the antithesis to a lot of MCs at the time. Latterly getting into production & running his own label, he'll be sorely missed. RIP'
London-based label Hospital Records described him as a 'truly iconic and unique artist'.
'We are devastated to hear of the passing of MC Conrad. A truly iconic and unique artist, he helped define and build the world of jungle & drum and bass music. All our love and thoughts are with his family and friends,' they said.
@section8atl said 'Gutted to hear the news about MC Conrad passing away. He was hugely influential to me discovering my love for Drum & Bass. I'll cherish the time that I filled in for LTJ Bukem & had MC Conrad on for my set.'
Meanwhile, @deLaceyMusic commented: 'RIP MC Conrad. Soundtracked my youth, stewarded thousands through the dance (including many a session at Fabric in my late-teens). An inimitable voice, who could command a room like no other.

Twitch streamer places £24,000 hit on YouTuber after Stellar Blade argument | 4PEGBYE | 2024-04-30 21:08:01

A streamer offered to pay a bounty of £24,000 to make YouTuber Grummz disappear, in an argument about Stellar Blade outfits that led to police being called.
Arguments between content creators are commonplace on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, where they often react to each others' hot takes with their own opinions.
Usually disagreements fizzle out when one party ignores the other or an apology is made, like when Twitch star Jynxzi went on a rant-and-a-half against xQc, after being accused of artificially inflating his viewership.
But things rarely get as bad as this latest example, when a Twitch streamer offered to pay a bounty of $30,000 (£24,000) for someone to 'disappear', with onlookers calling for her to be deplatformed and reported to the police.
YouTuber Grummz posted a video they had done about Stellar Blade's EVE and her uncensored outfits on Twitter, with the now-banned Toneman threatening his life by saying: '$20K [£16,000] to anyone that makes this dips*** disappear.'
Twitch streamer Denims then reacted to the quote by saying: 'Listen, I'll up the number, OK? $30K to anyone who'd make this dips*** disappear and make EVE's breasts bigger.
'You have to do both, all right? Because then it's a win-win for me. I get more breasts and I don't have to see that moron on my timeline anymore,' Denims said during a recent livestream.
Denims must've realised that that was a bad idea, because she has now deleted the video on Twitch and made her Twitter account private, as others called for her to be punished for what she said.
Asmongold, who has 1.8 million followers on Twitch and is already well known for championing the exploitative elements of Stellar Blade, was amongst those asking for Denims to face consequences, saying:
'I might put in a police report. I haven't decided. I think I'm just going to wait and see how things play out. This is completely unhinged, it's completely uncalled for. This is like a felony.
'I think Twitch will probably have to ban her. I really don't even think that there's a way around it. I think especially if Twitch don't permaban her, I will absolutely see what my legal options are for something like this. Make sure this is reported, because this is crazy,' he said.

Denims has left a clip of the stream up on her channel, where she tries to defend herself while reacting to a viewer who said they had called the local police.
'If you show a cop that clip, he's going to laugh in your face. Half of that clip is me talking about liking big boobs,' Denims said.
Other than that Denims hasn't said anything else and her Twitch channel is not banned at time of writing.
The 54-year-old shared that he was taking a break from social media after attending the funeral.
He said: 'This is kind of a public service announcement, I've just been to my uncle's funeral, he was murdered a few weeks ago.
'Really, super nice guy shouldn't have happened to him, but it really affected me, I feel a little bit messed up.'
He went on to say he'll be away from social media 'for a bit', and would be having therapy.
'When these things happen, sometimes you really need to take stock and just relax,' he added.

Fans rushed to the comments to share their condolences, with @kane_brown_comedy writing: 'Sorry for your loss my brother. Hope you and the family have the support you need.'
@jezabella_goldmine added: 'So sorry for your loss. And good on you for taking care of your mental health. Thank you for the transparency, it really does help people to know they are not alone. Much love to you and your family.'
Speaking in 2021 documentary There's No Place Like Home, he recalled: 'At 21 I was all over the place, I had no direction, I left London because I was getting into loads of fights and there were people after me.'
The father of three continued: 'I had a supermarket carrier bag with all of my stuff in there and it wasn't a lot.
'I remember thinking, "Is this what my life has come to, is this the end for me?"'
In an interview the following year, Jay said The Repair Shop 'fixed' him, saying:'The Repair Shop has fixed me. What it's done is actually brought me into another family who have looked after me and understand my differences.'
The Repair Shop is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
